- ArcView.Exe Version 1.1 (c) 1988 Steven C. Lee
- ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
-
-
- ArcView is a program designed to aid in the management of
- archive files. Arcview requires that you also have PKARC.COM and
- PKXARC.COM by Phil Katz. The latest version will always be
- available on Compuserve's IBM Software Forum (DL3) and on The ST
- BBS in Birmingham, Alabama (205)836-9311 300/1200/2400-8-N-1.
-
- ArcView is the VIEW component of Swiss Army Shell, a
- ShareWare program. ArcView is being distributed as FreeWare.
- This program is not in the public domain, and the author retains
- the copyright. No contribution is requested for this program.
-
- ArcView will now run on either color or monochrome adapters.
- Hercules adapters must be in text mode for ArcView to work
- properly. ArcView is limited to 100 files per archive. I will
- be happy to provide registered users of Swiss Army Shell with a
- customized version with higher limits.
-
- WARRANTY DISCLAIMER
- -------------------
- ARCVIEW IS NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY EITHER EXPRESSED OR
- IMPLIED. THE AUTHOR WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES
- WHATSOEVER, EITHER DIRECT OR INDIRECT RESULTING FROM THE USE OF
- THIS PROGRAM. YOUR USE OF THIS PROGRAM CONSTITUTES YOUR
- ACCEPTANCE OF THIS DISCLAIMER AND YOUR RELEASE OF THE AUTHOR FROM
- ANY FORM OF LIABILITY OR LITIGATION.
-
- Distribution License
- --------------------
- The author grants a limited license to copy and distribute
- ArcView subject to the following restrictions:
-
- All files in this archive must be distributed as a unit.
-
- The files must remain unmodified.
-
- This software is not bundled with any product sold for
- profit.
-
- No charge is made for this software beyond media costs.
-
-
- ArcView accepts piped output from PKXARC using the -v
- (verbose archive listing) parameter. ArcView will display the
- output of the verbose listing in a pageable display and will
- allow tagging and untagging of files.
-
- ArcView Commands
- ----------------
-
- Up Arrow - Moves the cursor up one file.
-
- Down Arrow - Moves the cursor down one file.
-
- T - Tags the file under the cursor.
-
- U - Untags the file under the cursor.
-
- Q or Esc - Quits ArcView.
-
- A - Brings up the Archive Menu. The Choices are described below:
-
-
-
- Extract Tagged Files - Extracts the tagged files to the
- directory specified in the window
- provided. The current path will be
- supplied as a default, but may be
- backspaced over and replaced.
-
- UnArc Entire Archive - Extracts all files in the archive to
- the directory specified in the window
- provided.
-
- Delete Tagged Files - Deletes the tagged files from the
- archive. You will be asked if you
- are sure you want to do this.
-
- Directories may be entered as either relative or full paths.
-
- ArcView calls PKARC and PKXARC to perform the extract and
- delete functions. The documentation for these programs should be
- reviewed for details on their operation. PKARC.COM and PKARC.COM
- must be in a directory which is in the current PATH for ArcView
- to find them. Make sure the PATH statement in your AUTOEXEC.BAT
- file includes this directory.
-
- ArcView may be invoked from the DOS command line in the
- following manner:
-
- pkxarc -v arcfile | arcview[/m] <CR>
-
- where arcfile is the .ARC file to be viewed. Do not enter the .ARC
- extension for arcfile. If ArcView cannot find COMSPEC in the
- environment you will be prompted for the path to COMMAND.COM.
-
- The optional "/m" switch may be specified if you want the
- monochrome color scheme. If you are using a color adapter with a
- composite monochrome monitor you may prefer this black and white
- mode to the default colors. ArcView will automatically detect a
- monochrome adapter. Hercules adapters must be in text mode for
- ArcView to work properly.
-
- A batch file, VIEWARC.BAT has been provided to invoke ArcView
- and may be invoked in the following manner:
-
- viewarc arcfile [/m]<CR>
-
- You are encouraged to share ArcView with others. If you
- like this program I encourage you to try Swiss Army Shell
- (SAS10.ARC), a full featured file management program that I am
- distributing as ShareWare. Swiss Army Shell allows you to tag
- and copy, delete, move, arc and unarc files.
-
- I may be contacted via EMail on the following systems:
-
- Compuserve EasyPlex (71076,1216)
-
- Bix (sclee)
-
- The ST BBS (Steve Lee)
- Birmingham, AL
- (205)836-9311
- 300/1200/2400-8-N-1
-
- Don't leave a CompuServe Forum message because I just can't
- afford to keep up with the board. EasyPlex or The ST BBS are
- best because I don't log on to Bix very often. If you absolutely
- must contact me on voice, my phone number is in the doc file for
- Swiss Army Shell (SAS11.ARC) and is also listed with directory
- assistance in Anniston, Alabama.
